Your link is not about Obamacare, not about expanded coverage and not even about cutting costs. Did you mispost a link?

  2. Boonton,
No. The link was about the “doc fix” … the question I raised is why cost cutting failures of Medicare don’t apply to the similar cost cutting “fixes” in Obamacare.

  3. Cost cutting failure? Is it your contention then that the law that created the need for periodic ‘doc fixes’ did not cut Medicare costs?

  4. Back during the health care debate, there was a very good article that looked at what happened to 3 or 4 cuts to Medicare passed over the last 20 years or so. Long story short: Almost none of the ‘cuts’ were later repealed and almost all of the projected savings from the bills (something like 80% I believe), ended up happening. The ‘doc fix’ is one exception but even it has resulted in savings compared to what would have happened if the law hadn’t been pasted (just that neither Congress nor doctors want to deal with the full savings that would be realized by just letting the law kick in as written).

Still looking for that but this is a good substitute for the time…http://www.theatlantic.com/business/archive/2010/03/are-medicare-cuts-a-big-fat-lie/36852/
