  1. I wonder how many “sex-scandals” in the US are the result of planned actions by the opposition.

Years ago I briefly worked for Kushner Properties. The experience was notable because the family business took their Jewish religion very seriously, even to the point of having a Rabbi come in on Thursday’s to lead prayers in one of the lunch rooms (with the women in an adjoining room). The family was also very well off and politically notable because of their numerous campaign donations and a brief attempt to acquire the Nets. They treated their workers horribly, though.

Anyway a few years after that one of the main guys in the family was under investigation for making illegal campaign contributions and he wanted to intimidate his brother-in-law, his sister’s husband, from talking. So he hired a prostitute who seduced his brother-in-law and had the whole thing secretely taped. He then tried to blackmail the guy. While the brother-in-law took advantage of the prostitute, he didn’t fall for the blackmail and as a result not only did he go down for the illegal donations but also witness tampering. It’s the only notable set up I know and I wish I knew what type of conversation the guy had with his sister when this all came to light. But anyway I think the answer to your question is zero. If an opposition group did pull off a ‘honey trap’ I suspect we’d hear about it not too long after it gets sprung. People like patting themselves on the back.

  2. Our Government really really really needs to spend less.

Greg Mankiw shows that US income tax is more progressive than many might assume. The top 5% of income earners cover 60% of the tax bill.

This just in, smokers are paying 100% of tobacco taxes! Drinkers paying 100% of booze taxes! People with chronic fear of the water paid a disproportionately low share of boat registration fees last year!

  3. On the unconstitutionality of the health care bill.

I think the first or second comment debunks the whole thing. Interstate commerce, dude, its interstate commerce.
