Good morning. You know you’ve been through a cold snap when 32F, which it is this morning, feels warm.
- Off with her head, or something like that. Someone remarked (on their blog) that the feminists of the West do not defend actions like this and in fact actively speak out against them. Is there a left leaning “Jihad Watch”, if not … why not?
- Apologetics links, with a science/faith twist.
- Jesus and pacifism and from elsewhere a supporter of pacificism speaks out.
- A prayer.
- A very good book plugged (I’ve read it). On that topic … an essay about Aquinas on love.
- Two deaths. Memory Eternal … and I don’t know what is said by this group.
- Body, soul and relationships, a quote.
- Some bad timing noted.
- Contra optimism.
- A visit to be noted, by the Orthodox at the very least.
- Private war discussed.
- Hmmm. Not a joke, apparently.
- Contra national health care, a position I’m aligned with certainly.
- Soul in the machine. Or not.
- Kaytn forest in film noted here. Many years (20+) ago I saw Sweet Movie, at the Art Institute at a screening with the director present. There was a short part on Katyn forest stuck in there just because it had to be said.
- Chant and snobbery, or those having never been to a Byzantine rite service (which is almost entirely chanted).
- A fan of hell (in a good way).
The subject matter of Met. Kallistos lecture in Detroit sounds very interesting. He’s also coming to Baltimore on Feb. 16th but the subject is Christ in Today’s World.
Happy name day, btw.
DebD,
Thank you.
Contra national health care, a position I’m aligned with certainly.
It’s a good thing nobody’s proposing that kind of national health care in the U.S.
I don’t understand why the right keeps pretending that the Democrats want our health care system to be just like Britain’s. Is it a talking point, or do they really believe that?
On one side, national health care. On the other, government-guaranteed health insurance.
This really drives me nuts. If you want to argue that it’s a slippery slope, fine, make that argument. But please (and again, I’m not talking just to you, Mark
) STOP EQUATING THE TWO.
Thanks.
