Morning Links

Good morning to all.

  • Lexington Green at The Chicago Boyz is encouraged by the Presidents SUTU speech with respect to his take on Iran.
  • The Christian Carnival is up at Attention Span.
  • Advice ill meant, might be taken ill? Mat Yglesias unabashed liberal blogger (which isn’t necessarily a bad thing) has energy advice for the President, to “stop subsidising the oil companies”. However it seems to me that anything done by a politician which is perceived to raise oil prices is going to be political suicide. Can we hope for a little more honesty in our criticism?
  • Hatred now illegal in the UK, reports Sven of Theology and Biblical Studies. “Intent of the speaker to stir up hatred”. Will that law last only until the next major war? Will it seriously put a damper on freedoms of speech in the UK, or will it not have teeth. Stay tuned.

So… “we have a serious problem: America is addicted to oil”…
but don’t expect Bush to do anything serious about it: it wouldn’t be politically convenient. Right?
