When we consider human intelligence, logical reasoning and language are typically identified as perhaps the leading indicators to separate our human intelligence from that of the animals. Inspiration and flashes of insight however have given as much of more to advance our collective civilization than logic and reason. Consider however for a moment the intelligent ant colony … from the ant’s perspective … here with man as ant.
- Time scales would likely be different. Rates of thought and means perception are very different. Ants use sight, sound, smell, and touch. Colonies however have different perceptions. Collective perceptions and responses shared via empathy, gesture, and language.
- A colony (ants) considered as an intelligent agent must be able to act not just compute. In order to act, information must not just flow from the ants (collectively) but the collective must be able to direct information “downward” and move individual or groups of ants (not likely however specific individuals).
- Men are differently gifted in every attribute which can be identified that men possess. Likely sensitivity to information passing from the collective downward might be not just an accident of location and activity but might be a particular sensitivity that men might posses.
- What might be call such men? Prophet? Inspired?
