I’m inclined to agree. With the Manhattan project, there was a single task that we knew how to do in theory. With energy, not so much.

The media and the election.
McCain ran a horrible campaign and Obama ran a near-perfect one. McCain picked a national joke as VP and Obama picked a guy who’s been in the Senate for a hundred years. McCain and Palin called Obama a socialist and terrorist sympathizer and Obama pretty much stayed above the fray.
It would be biased if the coverage of McCain were not more negative than coverage of Obama was.
