Are condemned as it were. Ms Malkin and a whole host of others point out the Afghan Christian under death sentence for converting to Christianity from Islam. Has history shown them nothing? Martyrdom is an effective way of not suppressing a religion or strongly held worldview/belief.

- Super Bowl Thoughts III February 9, 2010I guess I'm going to turn this into an annual tradition, writing about the Super Bowl. I'm even getting all pretentious about it and marking them with Roman numerals, just as the NFL does. So sue me. First off, it was a terrific game. Congrats to the New Orleans Saints, a true Cinderella story of a team that seemed a perpetual cellar dweller that c […]Tom Neven
- Miraculous Healing, Exhibit A: Me (or "The Reason I Fasted") February 9, 2010I have Multiple Sclerosis, and have had it for a bit over 23 years. The first episode I had numbed the left half of my body from the shoulder to the foot. With medication it went almost entirely away, with just some slight lingering numbness in my left hand that I could handle. Other smaller episodes of it coming and going occurred for some years after th […]Doug Payton

Tillich spoke to the times. He was painfully aware of the collapse of modernity (the beginning of which he traced from the enlightenment), and trie […]Metacrock
- Not Human Rights February 9, 2010My son (the student, not the soldier) sent me this link, and tells me I should quote Ben Dror Yemini more often than I do. Yemini is a Tel-Aviv lawyer turned centrist pundit with a sharp pen and a regular column in Maariv. The problem is, he writes Hebrew, and even when he gets translated (here's an archive of his translated articles), much of his argum […]Yaacov
- The Development Of The Canon (Part 3) February 9, 2010Dave Armstrong writes:At the Council of Nicaea, according to Protestant apologist Norman Geisler (How we Got the Bible, with co-author William E. Nix, Chicago: Moody Press, 1974, 109), the books of James, 2 Peter, 2 and 3 John, and Jude, were "named as disputed." Geisler seems, however (based on his comments on p. 111), to merely be talking about t […]Jason Engwer

- Recasting Avatar February 9, 2010The VC has already brought attention to one property rights interpretation of a tale generally thought to be left-leaning (The Lorax). Today, Ilya Somin points to another example of the genre: David Boaz on Avatar: Conservatives have been very critical of the Golden Globe-winning film “Avatar” for its mystical melange of trite leftist themes. But what they h […]David Schraub
