Morning Links

Good morning to all.

  • Chewymom describes a theology and way of approaching motherhood and child-rearing that is spot on, at least from my perspective. (HT: Tulip Girl)
  • John Samson at Reformation Theology teaches about the exclusivity of Christ’s salvation.
  • From Matthew Yglesias comes yet another less than sanguine partisan attack. This time it’s pointing out that he feels the GOP is lacking ideas, and that their platform is splintered. This coming from a member of the party which is united by its support of the “right” to abortion.
  • Mike Russell at Eternal Perspectives has a new post up on discussing our differences of opinion. Mr Russell’s example is in the theological circle, but his advice would be just as good if not better if it were standard practice in the political arena. He writes:

I suspect (but don’t know) that Phil learned at Moody at least one of the things I learned at Denver Seminary about discussing theological issues: make sure that you have fairly and clearly explained – as much as you are able – the position(s) with which you disagree before explaining why you disagree and then present your own position.

Replace theological with political and this is just plainly a good idea. It’s hard work but it might bring some peace to our divisions. Oddly enough, if this is standard teaching in theological circles it seems likely that theologians often forget to bring that advice into other spheres of their life, especially when we note the naivete of the political advice of many well spoken, highly regarded theologians
